Q. How do I know when I have messages in voice mail?
A. Look for a “voice mail waiting” indicator:
- A red flashing light on your telephone set
- An intermittent/stutter dial tone when you pick up your receiver
Q. I get an intermittent dial tone when I pickup my phone. What’s causing this?
A. This is a “voice mail waiting” indicator tone notifying you that you have a new voice mail
Q. How many phone numbers can I get setup at my location with Cable ONE Phone?
A. You can have up to 2 telephone numbers assigned at your location and up to 5 telephones connected to each number.
Q. Can I block harassing phone calls that have been made to my phone number?
A. Yes, Cable ONE Phone offers features such as Selective Call Rejection that allow harassing phone calls to be blocked.
Q. Can I keep my DSL service with Cable ONE Phone?
A. If your phone service is currently with your DSL provider, it is advisable to contact them to ensure you will be able to keep DSL without their phone service before switching to Cable ONE Phone. However, it is important that you notify your local Cable ONE office that you would like to continue to keep your DSL service after you switch to Cable ONE Phone.
Q. My phone number is unpublished / unlisted and I’m receiving a lot of solicitation calls. Does Cable ONE provide my information to telemarketers?
A. Cable ONE does not provide your phone number to Telemarketers and we suggest that anybody experiencing issues with solicitation calls register their telephone number with the national Do Not Call registry at www.DoNotCall.gov. If you would like us to block certain numbers, we can do so.
Q. Can I use my fax machine with Cable ONE phone service?
A. Yes, fax machines can be used with Cable ONE Phone.
Q. Can I change the number of rings it takes for my Voicemail box to pick up?
A. Yes, the number of rings can be changed between 1 and 10. To change the ring times for voice mail please contact the Cable ONE Solutions Center at 1-877-MY-CABLE (877-692-2253).
Q. I have 2 phone numbers with Cable ONE that are published / listed. If someone calls information do they provide both numbers or just one of them?
A. When calling information if both numbers are published / listed under the same name then both numbers will be provided. If only 1 number happens to be published / listed while the other is unpublished / unlisted then only the published / listed number will be provided.
Q. Can I port my 800 number that I have with another carrier to Cable ONE Phone?
A. Unfortunately, we cannot port an 800 number to Cable ONE Phone service. However, while we cannot port an 800 number over, 800 numbers will work with Cable ONE Phone Service. And in many cases, your 800 number provider will allow you to keep your 800 number and redirect to your new Cable ONE phone number; if you are porting your home phone number, your existing 800 service should function as it has.
Q. How can I check the calls that I have made using Cable ONE Phone?
A. To view a list of calls that have been made you can login to myphone.cableone.net
Q. If I port my number to Cable ONE Phone service can I still receive incoming long distance phone calls?
A. Yes, you will be able to receive long distance calls after your number has ported to Cable ONE Phone service.
Q. Are there any types of calls I cannot receive when using Cable ONE Phone?
A. You will not be able to receive collect calls with Cable ONE Phone service. If someone is calling from a prison, they may have to use a calling card to reach anybody with Cable ONE Phone service.
Q. Where can I view a copy of my phone bill?
A. You can view a copy of your phone bill by logging in to myphone.cableone.net. Current and past statements are available for viewing.
Q. How do I prevent being charged anything extra for calls made with Cable ONE Phone?
A. Cable ONE Phone offers a Toll Blocking feature which allows calls that would be charged a toll (such as International calls) to be blocked. This feature can be enabled by logging into myphone.cableone.net and changing the “My Phone Settings”.
Q. Can I use a relay phone with my Cable ONE Phone service?
A. Yes, teletype machines are compatible with the Cable ONE Phone service.
Q. Can I connect a heart monitoring device or a life alert system to Cable ONE Phone?
A. No, medical devices such as a heart monitoring device or a life alert system have not been tested with Cable One Phone and are not guaranteed to work properly.
Q. How much time do I have to record a greeting message on my voice mail?
A. You have two minutes available to record your greeting message.
Q. I have a burglar alarm setup in my home. Will Cable ONE Phone allow me to continue to use my burglar alarms system?
A. Yes, Cable One phone will connect to an independent burglar alarm system in your home. However, Cable ONE phone can NOT be connected to a fire alarm system unless it’s a dual burglar and fire alarm system panel.
Q. When dialing a long distance call within the continental USA on Cable One phone I hear an announcement that I will be charged long distance fees. I am making these calls within the continental USA and have your unlimited long distance service. Will I be charged fees?
A. No, you will not be charged long distance charges. However, if you hear this message, please contact the Cable ONE Solutions Center at 1-877-MY-CABLE (877-692-2253) and they will correct this issue for you.
Q. I received my bill and I see “OA” listed with charges. What does “OA” mean?
A. OA on your bill stands for Operator Assistance and charges will be listed that are associated to that particular Operator Assistance call (e.g. 411).
Q. Where can I find the long distance rate for a specific country I would like to call?
A. If you are interested in a long distance rate for a specific country you can find the rate with our International Rate Lookup Tool , you can contact your local office or the Cable ONE Solutions Center at 1-877-MY-CABLE (877-692-2253) for assistance.
Q. Will Cable ONE phone work with an ankle monitor?
A. We make a best effort to support house arrest devices with Cable ONE Phone but make no guarantees since these devices have not been tested.
