Kaplan in the Community
Drawing upon its 70 years of experience in the education sector, Kaplan offers a wide range of services to communities and individuals in need. Kaplan's community outreach efforts touch neighborhoods across the country and are supported by each of the Kaplan businesses, often working in partnership with non-profit organizations.

Kaplan's most recent philanthropic initiative is the Kaplan Educational Foundation. Through its leadership program, the Foundation serves talented community college students in need of financial assistance who have the potential to become positive and influential members of their communities. The program offers these high-achieving, low-income students the resources and guidance they need to finish their associate's degrees and continue their studies at four-year universities.

In addition to funding for college, each student receives mentoring and career counseling, leadership training, and individualized academic advising. The program also enables students to interact with business, community, and academic leaders.

Kaplan also participates in a number of other community outreach activities that assist thousands of individuals each year. From Los Angeles to London to Tel Aviv, employees are involved in Kaplan-sponsored initiatives that help students realize their dreams. In addition, Kaplan provides free test preparation, college admissions guidance and books to disadvantaged students in many communities. The company also supports local organizations such as Citizens' Committee for Children, New York/Chicago Cares and Reading is Fundamental.

In 2006, the company launched the first Kaplan Three Peaks Challenge, a climb of the three highest mountains in Great Britain. The event raised several hundred thousand dollars for CARE International, one of the world's leading organizations fighting poverty in developing countries. Kaplan's fundraising supports CARE's educational projects in India, including improving the quality of impoverished schools and literacy rates of female students.
